Description (Service) | Provides an integrated program of Ontario Works, Housing and Child Care offering employment and financial assistance to help you become financially independent and to improve quality of life for you and your family. Financial assistance includes income support for basic needs like food, clothing and shelter as well as Emergency Assistance for people in a crisis or an emergency shelter. If you qualify for financial assistance you must participate in employment related activities unless you are unable due to a serious medical condition or you are required to provide care to family members. Clients 18-65 years who are not caring for pre-school age children or who do not have a serious disability or illness must participate in employment assistance activities. Financial Assistance - monthly allowance based on family size, housing costs and income, monthly drug benefit card, Child Care start-up costs, basic dental care for children, health-related benefits - may include dentures, emergency dental service, eyeglasses, special diet allowance, health care supplies, medical transportation funds, prosthetic devices, funerals and burials. Employment Start-Up Benefit - covers costs related to starting a job or work placement. Employment Resource Centre - offering practical services to assist you in your employment journey to prepare for, find and maintain employment which include: Job Vacancies Daily at www.employmentinhastingscounty.com, help for walk-in job search centre based on individual skills experience and circumstances, providing access to computers, internet, fax, photocopier, telephone resource materials, job banks, labour market information, assistance with resumes, referrals to job counselling/coaching and training, in-house workshops that offer knowledge of local job markets, volunteer placements, employment placement, basic education, basic adult upgrading, high school upgrading, literacy, job skills training, on-the-job training, supports to self-employment, referrals to self-employment programs, Learning Earning and Parenting (LEAP) helps young parents finish high school, improve parenting skills, locate and maintain employment. Eligibility | Ages: 18 year(s) - 65 year(s) Employable youth ages 16-17 year(s) and up who cannot live at home but are attending school or seeking employment. Financial need is determined by a review of income, liquid assets and living expenses. Youth and Adults 18 – 65 years who are not caring for pre-school age children or who do not have a serious disability or illness must participate in employment assistance activities and meet financial criteria. Each member of the household must meet at least one of the following criteria: member is a Canadian Citizen, member has made an application for status as a permanent resident under the immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), or member has made a claim for refugee protection under the immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), member is able to live independently and make own arrangements for supportive services.
