Description (Service) | Charitable literacy organization that assists adults to develop literacy and basic skills to improve their self-esteem, further their educational and employment opportunities, and better their health Programs: Learning Support: tutors work one-to-one or in small groups to focus on the individual learner’s strengths, knowledge and experiences, with the aim of providing learning support and building self-esteem * these programs occur in a range of places, including schools, community centres, libraries, and shelters. Homework Club: at least once a week, participants meet one-to-one or in small groups with volunteer tutors to read, write, do homework, play word games, and do other activities that support learning and literacy Volunteers opportunities: tutor math, reading, and writing * read stories * help with special events * work for the Frontier College Book Donation Program |
