Description (Service) COVID-19 (1 Jun 2020): Due to COVID 19, clients do not need to drop off income reporting statements or other documents * clients must keep documents to give to their worker at a later time * clients can also take a picture and email it to their case worker * Ontario Works clients can go online at Ontario.ca/MyBenefits to get payment information, report income or make a change of address * for help to register, clients can call the InfoLine at 1-888-999-6130 or contact their case worker

Access to Employment and Social Services offices:

* All four Employment and Social Service offices are temporarily closed to the public * staff are available to help residents by phone and email

To make an application for financial assistance:
* go to ontario.ca/socialassistance to start an online application, or call 3-1-1 and select 4 for Social Services, then 3

Residents already on Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) can call their case workers with questions or to ask for help

Ontario Works clients can also call 3-1-1, select 4, then 2 to speak to an agent


Financial and employment assistance to people in temporary financial need * can help pay for basic needs such as food, housing costs, certain furniture (beds (one every five years based on need), cribs, high chairs (one per family based on need) and a stove or fridge where not provided by landlord) and prescription drugs

Application There are two parts to the application, an online or telephone application followed by an intake appointment at one of the Employment and Social Services offices * to find the nearest one, click here

* to apply by phone, call 3-1-1 press 1 for English and 4 for Social Services, then option 3
* applicants can also view an Ontario Works Information Video at www.ottawa.ca/ontarioworks in English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Somali
* Interactive Voice Response (IVR) 1-800-808-2268 — automated information and payment details, payment history, file status, etc.
*Sign up for MyBenefits at mybenefits.mcss.gov.on.ca/auth/login to report changes or get information about your Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program case.
