Description (Service) | COVID-19 (27 April 2020) Call centre remains open with fewer staff, consumers may experience longer wait times. OEB will be posting details on the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) once the details have been determined by the government. This information is regularly updated on their website. Access centre to apply for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) one-time emergency financial assistance * program runs throughout the year * maximum grant is $500 per fuel per household per year ($600 for electrically heated homes) * grant is credited directly toward energy bill * agency can arrange a 21-day hold on a disconnection notice while a case is being assessed * all decisions can be appealed Book an appointment with your nearest Community Resource Centre to apply for the LEAP Program grant. Application | Pre-screening by telephone before in-person interview * documents required for interview include identification for each household member, Hydro bill, proof of income (pay stubs, employer letter, Employment Insurance (EI) statement, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or Ontario Works (OW) statement, bank statement, proof of rent or mortgage. All documents should have current information. OW and ODSP recipients should first contact their social worker or the City of Ottawa for matters related to utility assistance * a letter from the City stating that the recipient cannot receive financial help will be requested by the CHRC in order to apply for LEAP.
