Description (Service) | COVID19 (28 May 2020): Program still offered through pandemic - call for more information. Home-visiting program offered to expectant mothers, and families with children from birth to their transition to school, who need more support. Visits are provided by public health nurses, a social worker and family visitors. The program offers health teaching, counseling, ongoing parenting guidance and referrals to community resources. The program can help parents learn about: * having a healthy pregnancy and birth * connecting with their baby * how children grow and develop as well as what the parent can do to help * breastfeeding, food and healthy nutrition * being a parent * taking care of themselves and their family * accessing supports to cope with mental health issues and other family challenges * other services available in their community |
