School Immunization Clinics
Public Health Nurses provide immunizations against Hepatitis B, HPV and Meningococcal disease to eligible Grade 7 students at over 100 schools across the City. These vaccines are part of the publicly-funded immunizations paid by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. For homeschooled and students in alternate school situations, the program provides a monthly evening “catch-up” clinic for students in grades 7-12 and supports physicians in the community to immunize students unable to receive vaccination in a group setting.

Immunization Surveillance: Ensures that all children who attend a licensed childcare center or school in Ottawa have up-to-date immunization records. Parents or caregivers of these children must provide this information to Ottawa Public Health. Proof of immunization against nine vaccine-preventable diseases is required according to the Province of Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act. Children in childcare centers must have proof of immunization against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases as per the publicly-funded immunization schedule for Ontario.
