| Description (Service) | Multiethnic centre offering services for refugees, immigrants and residents Settlement services include: * Needs assessment and information and referral to community and social services * Support finding housing, child care, health care, registering children in school * Help filling out government forms including housing * Community support: volunteer befriending, conversation circles (English only) * Connecting to language classes * Stress reduction workshops for adjusting to Canadian culture * Citizenship Test preparation classes * Short-term counselling * Job search centre * Employment counselling, skills and career development * Settlement workers in schools - outreach program in elementary and secondary schools * Yearly income tax return clinic for low-income newcomers Additional services include: * Youth programs * Senior services * Community capacity building * Counselling |
