Description and Services | |
Description (Service) | Volunteer opportunity * adults and families with young children from the Kingston community come to the GSK Clinical Education Centre (CEC) as "volunteer patients" for Queen's students. Students from medicine, nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy practice their clinical and communication skills with people who volunteer to share health histories and/or allow students to practice performing basic physical examinations. Parents or caregivers bring children (infants to school age) to the CEC, providing opportunities for Queen's students to learn about children and their developmental stages, and how to communicate with them. Patients with stable, chronic health conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), liver disease, arthritic conditions, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy (CP), Parkinson's, etc. are also needed for sessions with the students |
