Description (Service) | Financial assistance to low income homeowners by way of a forgivable loan in order to repair their home while improving the energy-efficiency of the unit and/or increase accessibility of their unit through modifications and adaptions. Major repairs and rehabilitation required to make a house safe while improving energy efficiency including: * heating systems * chimneys * doors and windows * foundations * roofs, walls, floors and ceilings * vents, louvers * electrical systems * plumbing * septic systems, well water and well drilling Modifications to increase accessibility related to housing and reasonably related to the occupant's disability including: * ramps * handrails * chair and bath lifts * height adjustments to counter tops * cues for doorbells/fire alarms |

Eligibility | Property taxes and mortgage payments must be verified and up-to-date. Owners of mobile homes must provide verification that mortgage payments and land lease payments are paid up-to-date. The property must be located in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville or the municipalities of the City of Brockville, Town of Prescott, or Town of Gananoque. Applicants must own a home that is their sole and principle residence with a market value at or below $150,000. Applicants must have a total gross household income that does not exceed $45,000. Applicant’s assets must not be in excess of $20,000. All assets are included with the exception of vehicles used for employment, registered retirement savings plan (RRSP), registered retirement income fund (RRIF), registered disability savings plan (RDSP), and registered education savings plan (RESP). Recreational vehicles, boats, other investments, and business interests for instance, are included in the asset calculation. Target client groups include but are not limited to: * seniors * persons with disabilities * victims of family violence * aboriginal people living off-reserve * low to moderate income singles and families * residents of remote communities |
