| Description | A fully accredited regional centre providing specialized ambulatory services to children, youth and certain adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities and their families. Programs are provided by specialists: physiotherapists * occupational therapists * speech-language pathologists * nurses * preschool, school, and liaison teachers * psychologists * social workers * technical and medical specialists * developmental paediatricians * neurologists * physiatrist * orthopaedic surgeons * behaviour consultants * early childhood consultants and recreation therapists Early Childhood Program: focuses on children from birth to school entry * Integrated Therapy team: treatment, consultation and education * Preschool program: therapeutic-based program for children aged two to five who have physical disabilities and complex associated difficulties * Infant Development: service for infants and young children from birth to five who have a developmental disability or are at risk of a developmental delay Assistive Technology Program: focuses on specialty technology services across the life span * Clinic for Augmentative Communication: equipment and support for children, adolescents and some adults who have difficulty speaking or writing * Seating and Mobility: serves children and youth with complex needs who require specialized seating and mobility devices to increase their functional ability and participation in community activities * Technical Services: promotes and facilitates the use of computers, adaptive equipment and adapted toys through the Toy Library, Family Resources Centre and the Computer Group Special Education : a school program that offers kindergarten and elementary aged students who are physically disabled and have extensive therapy needs, a highly specialized educational program, combined with therapy services Life Span Core Program: has a mix of life span services: * Intake Team: a coordinated point of access to OCTC services * Behavioural Services: a continuum of care for children, youth and certain adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities requiring behavioural intervention and their families * Medical and interdisciplinary clinics: services by developmental pediatricians, neurologists, physiatrists and orthopedic surgeons * School-aged Youth and Adolescents Services: specific age-based team focused on school-aged youth and adolescents including transition to adult services * Out-of-Home Respite: provides out-of-home, daytime respite options for families of children who are medically fragile and/or technologically dependent and who require 24-hour care | |||
