DescriptionA prevention service for socially isolated, low-income families with children. Using a community development approach, mutual support groups are formed West Central Ottawa. Based on the principle of self-help, the programs assist families to acquire the skills, supports and services they need to improve parenting skills and gain more control over their lives. 
 
Emphasis is placed on building parents' capabilities and the community through networking of parents, group activities, and the provision of services and information. 
 
Services provided: referrals * community support groups * parenting group * prenatal support group and nutrition classes * postnatal support * playgroup * counselling * clothing cupboard * toy lending library * headstart nursery school and full day program * homework clubs * youth groups * summer camps
EligibilitySocially isolated, low income families with children/youth within the boundaries.
