| Description | Designed to bring companionship to the isolated members of the community, particularly the elderly and people living with a disability as well as homeless shelters, children's hospitals and long term care facilities. Volunteers are asked to take either their owned animals or Ottawa Humane Society approved animals to long-term care facilities, group homes, hospitals and a variety of social service agencies. | |||
| Eligibility | Ages: 18 year(s) and up Volunteers 18 years of age and older must have their own suitable visiting cat or dog; the animal must be evaluated by an OHS temperament evaluator and meet temperament criteria; driver's license and criminal records check are mandatory. | |||
| Application | Please e-mail to volunteer; a weekly commitment of approximately 3 hours is required from the beginning of September until the end of May. | |||
